Mr. Jerry Noboru Hirata

Resident of Santa Clara

Jerry was born on December 9, 1918 in Watsonville, CA, and passed away on August 9, 2010 with his family at his side.

Jerry is predeceased by his wife of 40 years Betty Kimiko, his son Michael and granddaughter Jennifer, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Gerald and Suzanne Hirata of Fresno, Melvin and Liz Hirata of Santa Clara, Cathy and Chris Carveiro of Campbell, and Cathy Hirata of Modesto; his grandchildren Danielle, Geoffrey, Amy, Lisa, Dennis, Erin, Daniel, Chad, Craig, Courtney and Christopher, as well as 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Tomi Sakaguchi with whom he had a cherished friendship and loving relationship for 15 years, his sister, Haru Imai, and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was retired from the Sunnyvale Elementary School District’s Building Maintenance Department and was a member of the California School Employees Association and the Retired Public Employees Association. He was a Santa Clara Kaiser Hospital Gold Star volunteer with 4800+ hours of service.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on August 15th, 5-9 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N Winchester Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be held on August 16th, 11 a.m., St. Justin Catholic Church, 2655 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, followed by a burial service at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose.
