John Charles Lutz

On October 31, 2021, John Charles Lutz, loving soulmate and husband, dad and grandpa finished his courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his doting family. John was born February 2, 1943 in Chicago. He graduated from Campion Jesuit High School in Wisconsin and DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago, going on to receive his degree in Engineering at University of Illinois-Chicago. In 1967 John hired into Lockheed where he worked 30 years, finally finishing up as a Technical Publication Writer. Also in 1967, John married his childhood sweetheart, Jean. They raised their four children in Santa Clara.

John loved Elvis and fifties rock and roll, travelled with his bowling ball, and was a connoisseur of pizza and gummy worms. Picard was his favorite captain. John was active in his community serving on bowling and YMCA committees. He was a dedicated member of St. Justin’s Church and served as an usher at Sunday Mass. He valued time with his family more than anything else.

John is survived and beloved by his wife Jean, children; Cindy (Robert), Karen Shepherd (Matthew), John M. (Joanie), and Justin (Melinda) as well as grandchildren; Edie and Julian Shepherd, Jayden Lutz, and Emmeline and Johnny C. Lutz.

John was concerned about the environment and social justice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to aid these causes.

Thanks to Cecilia K. and Malaea L. for their compassion and care. They are the greatest. We appreciate Carelinx and Hospice of the Valley for how well they supported our family.
