Jonnie Vee Rivas

Born in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, to Barney and Vessie Logan, Jonnie always remained proud of her Mississippi roots and lovingly referred to it as home. After graduating from Itawamba High School and Draughn’s Business College, she met the“ever loving” of her life, Marty Rivas, in Memphis. While in Memphis, she met the “ever loving” of her life, Mario (Marty) Rivas. They married in Memphis in September of 1962, and then traveled back to San Jose in 1963. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage.

Jonnie devoted 30 years of her career to the Santa Clara School District, beginning in 1973. She retired in 2003 as the Registrar’s Secretary at Wilcox High School. She was very proud of her years with the District and loved sharing stories and memories of the many people she met throughout her career. Jonnie enjoyed researching her family roots, and was able to trace back to the beginnings of America. She loved to be with her family, both here and in Mississippi. The love of her life, Marty, preceded her in death in 2019. She is survived by her daughters, Debi (Rob) and Mary Joyce (Jimmy), and her little ones - Maria, Melanie and Chris. She is also survived by her brother, Robert and her sister, Unia Anne. She is preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Ben and Thomas.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and was a wonderful friend to all who knew her.
