Jose Inacio Brasil was born on January 6, 1945 in Topo, São Jorge, Portugal and passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2021 surrounded by his family at the age of 76. He was a beloved husband for 44 years to Clara Fatima Brasil and a devoted father to his son Daniel Brasil, daughter Monica Brown, and son-in-law Brian Brown. His grandchildren Emma and Jackson were his world and he was the most amazing and loving grandfather (Vovô).
Jose immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s and met his wife, Fatima, a few years later. They settled down in Santa Clara and raised their family there together. Jose had many different jobs throughout the years but his main career was as a gardener for East Side Union High School District, where he worked for 23 years before retiring.
He was a jack of all trades and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t figure out or engineer. Jose worked on cars, plumbing, fixing garden equipment, and random projects around the house. He even painted but complained that he always wound up with more paint on him than on the walls. Jose really enjoyed camping trips with the family in Half Moon Bay, watching soccer games, and spending time in his garden tending to his tomatoes and kale. He was a great storyteller and there was never a joke that went untold. You could often find him sitting in the garage, with the door open playing cards, dominoes, or dice.
Jose had a big heart and he was always willing to help friends and family out. He was a proud, honest, hardworking man who loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. His strength and determination were something to be admired. He adored his grandchildren, Emma and Jackson, so much and fought cancer for many years so he could be around for them. Jose is preceded in death by his parents Maria and Antonio Brasil, and brothers Manuel and Antonio Brasil. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces and nephews who held him in the highest regard and loved him dearly.
The memories he created and legacy he leaves behind will be cherished by all who were lucky enough to know him.
