Josephine died peacefully Thursday April 20, 2017 after a long battle with dementia surrounded by her loving family, priest, the caring people at Valley House and Hospice of the Valley.
Josephine, better know as Jo or Grandma Jo to so many, was a vibrant loving wife, mother, grandmother,
sister, aunt and friend to many.
Jo was born in Arlington New Jersey to Antonio and Angela LaPlaca. She grew up in Jamestown, New York with 5 brothers, 3 sisters and her niece Joanne, who was like a sister to her. It was a warm and loving Italian home.
Along with her husband Len and their two children, they moved to Santa Clara Calif in the mid 50s. Jo worked and retired from Philco-Ford/Lockheed Martin in 1988
Always the hostess, Jo loved to entertain and was constantly surrounded by family and friends. She was kind, giving, and always greeted everyone with a smile. She had many hobbies, including knitting, ceramics, playing cards, bowling, tending a garden and was a exceptional cook and baker.
Her beloved husband Len preceded her in death in 2007 . They are now reunited together and celebrating their 75th wedding Anniversary this month.
Jo is survived by her youngest brother Angelo, daughter Jeanette Pense (Orv), son Chuck Cali (Joyce) and grandchildren Antoinette, Brian and Brenda and great grandchildren Kyle, Jessica, Courtney, Henry and great great grandchild Taryn and many nieces and nephews.
Jo will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She touched all of our lives in immeasurable ways and will live on in our hearts forever.
Family & Friends are invited to a viewing at Lima Family Mortuary 466 N Winchester, Santa Clara from 9 - 10 AM on Friday April 28th. Church services will follow at Saint Justin's, 2655 Homestead, Santa Clara at 10:30 AM
