Luis Canilang Pagdanganan was born in the small town of San Carlos, Pangasinan in the Philippines on October 22, 1951. He was the youngest son of Pedro Pagdanganan and Pacita Canilang Pagdanganan. He had two sisters, Lydia Rule and Erlinda Reconose, and four brothers, Arturo, Apen, Enting, and Oling. He came to the U.S. in 1977. On May 9, 1981, he married Carmelita Malungcot Corpuz. Together they had one son, Lou Pagdanganan.
He lived a happy life as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, until the young age of 66. He passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife, Carmelita, his son Lou, and his daughter-in-law Amy, on April 22, 2018. He lived most of his adult life in his humble home in Santa Clara, while spending considerable amount of time in Stockton during his retirement years.
Luis was most known for being a great chef and a wonderful singer. He had an infectious smile, a warm heart, and perfected the art of dad jokes. Service was his love language. He worked hard to provide for his family and he believed in helping others when he could and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
In his passing, he leaves behind his loving wife, his son and daughter-in-law, his sisters, his grand-son, Tails (family pet dog whom he loved and treated like a grand-son), and many other friends and family who loved him dearly.
Visitation is scheduled for 5-9pm Tuesday, May 1 at Lima Family Santa Clara. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:30 Wednesday, May 2 at St. Martins Catholic Church, 593 Central Ave in Sunnyvale. Burial follows at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
