Lupe Perea Gonzales, born on March 14, 1922, passed peacefully on March 9, 2015 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Ramos Gonzales. Loving mother to Rosemarie Gonzales, Esther Nickols and husband Nick, Olivia Halunen and husband Ted, Aaron Gonzales and wife Carol and Victoria Gillespie and husband Doug (preceded in death). Loving sister to Noemi Perea. Preceded in death by her brothers: Joe Perea and Sam Perea, and sister Erma De Moire. Cherished sister-in-law to Virginia Perea, AnaMarie Perea, and Sarah and Ralph Portugal. Loving grandmother to Erica, David, Miko, Kristina, Catherine, Sarah and Alyson. Preceded in death by Michael and Robert. Loving Great Grandmother to Austin, Nicole, Justin, Danielle. Loving Great-Great Grandmother to Ariana and Jaidyn. Born in Guanajuato, Mexico she moved with her family to Los Angeles, Lupe moved to Santa Clara County when she married Victor after his military discharge in 1944. Upon Victor’s death in 1958, she supported her five children by working for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. Throughout her life Lupe practiced her strong Christian faith, she was an ardent advocate of education, enjoyed painting and travelling visiting the countries that Victor toured in World War II. She served on the Santa Clara County Grand Jury for two terms. Upon retirement she served on the Board of Volunteers for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. She began volunteering in the 1990s and resigned in August 2011. Mom often said that she enjoyed serving the public and she had a blessed life. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 from 5-9PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11AM at Cathedral of Faith, 2315 Canoas Garden Ave., San Jose. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
Mom: “When we were kids we looked up to you. You comforted, disciplined, loved and provided for us. As we got older you advised, listened and stood beside us. You have always made us feel that we are at the center of your universe, however; as we reflect back indeed you are the center of ours”.
