Maria Honoria Cardoso

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Honoria Cardoso, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Maria passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, surrounded by her children. Maria was born in Rosais, São Jorge, Azores, on April 30, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Maria do Rosario Pedregal and José Nunes Avila.

Maria was dedicated to her family; her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She found peace in her garden, where she loved growing beautiful flowers and fruit in her backyard.

She will be greatly missed by her family. Maria is survived by her husband, Antonio; her daughter, Lucinda, and her husband Helder; and her son, Fernando, and his wife Natalia. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Sabrina, Catarina, Tyler, Matthew, and Ryan, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Robin and Lily. She is also survived by many other extended family members and loved ones.

Maria was preceded in death by her son, Albert Cardoso; her parents, José Nunes Avila and Maria do Rosario Pedregal; her sister, Niveria Maciel; and her brothers, Elidio Avila and Humberto Avila.
