She was born on the Acores Island of Faial in the village of Cedros. She immigrated to California with her husband and 4 children in 1967. She is survived by three children, Desiderio (son) and his wife Helena, Albert (son) and his wife Deborah, Rui Albert (grandson) and Rosemary (daughter). Preceded in death by her husband Alberto and daughter Raquel (and son in law, Jose Euclides)
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening with Orchids being her passion.
She was heavily involved in the Portuguese community primarily with the religious societies at the S.E.S hall of Santa Clara. She was the Secretary for Our Lady of Fatima for almost two decades. With her devoted Catholic religious beliefs, she prayed the rosary at Portuguese festivals and for all members of the Portuguese community who passed on.
Maria was a deeply beloved mother, mother-in-law and grandmother who played a profound role in each of their lives and will be forever missed.
Visitation for Maria will be held at Lima Family Funeral home from 3pm-5pm on Monday April 15th, 2024. Visitation will also be held at Five Wounds Portuguese National Church, 1375 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA. Monday, April 15th, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM,7:00 PM rosary with mass immediately following.
Interment will be on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, at 12:00 PM, Mission City Memorial Park, 420 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
