Marjorie went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday. The third daughter of Charles and Marjorie Whittaker, she was born in Palo Alto. Raised in San Jose she was a graduate of Hester Grammar School, Herbert Hoover Junior High School and among the first class to graduate from Abraham Lincoln High School. On May 22, 1946, Marjorie and George Harwood began their 56-year marriage. She pinched pennies so they could buy a house in Santa Clara, which she made into a home for her family and welcomed all who came for the last 63 years. Marge enjoyed traveling, camping around the west and Alaska, a dream visit to the Holy Lands, and in 2005 at 80 years of age she went snorkeling in Kaui and took her first helicopter ride. She was a long-time member of Christian Church of Santa Clara, where she was trustee for many years. She loved the Lord and she loved her family and others unconditionally. The family she treasured will miss her dearly: daughters, Kathy Morgan, Nancy Britton and Janet Harwood; grandchildren, Dan and Scott (Stephanie) Morgan, Emily (Nick) Gibbons, Julie (Todd) Hoey, Corie and David (Taryn) Britton, Melissa (Aaron) Stout and Melinda (Ralph) Munguia; nineteen great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Ward; sister-in-law, Anna Whittaker; and niece, Tali Barbosa. She was predeceased by her husband George; brother and sister, Wilbur and Marian Whittaker; and son-in-law, William Britton. Visitation will be Tues. June 5 from 6 to 9pm at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd; where the Funeral will be Wed. June 6 at 10am. Burial to follow in Mission City Memorial Park, Santa Clara.
