Melecio U Ubarre Sr.

Melecio Ubarre, Sr. was born on May 12, 1935 in Lal-lo, Cagayan Valley, Philippines, one of 8 children of Isidro Ubarre and Francisca Umoquit. Melecio spent years working for the Merchant Marine before immigrating to the United States. He married his wife of nearly 53 years, Lourdes Habon Herana on May 18, 1969. On August 6, 1971, they welcomed their son Melecio Ubarre, Jr., “Jun” who would be the light of their lives for 50 years. Melecio, Sr. or Mel as he was known to family and friends, worked for years in the electronics field, as a CNA at Good Samaritan Hospital, and in food services at Agnew State Hospital, before spending his remaining years in the workforce as a TSA agent at San Jose International Airport. He retired at 62 to preserve his health and spend more time with his family. He was delighted when son Jun married his wife Crystal, and his golden years were spent enjoying his grandsons Kai & Cruz as their “Papa”. On February 15, 2022, Melecio, Sr. was reunited in the Kingdom of God with his beloved son Jun, who preceded him in death on August 7, 2021. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Melecio will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A Rosary service will occur Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 6:00 PM, 466 North Winchester Blvd by Father Ritchie Bueza, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Saint Justin's Parish, 2655 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95051. A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mission City Memorial Park, 420 N Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A Lunch reception will be held at Santa Clara Central Park Arbor Center (or location change to be determined) at 1:00pm 909 Kiely Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95051.
