Myrna was born on September 11, 1953 in Mangatarem, Pangasinan to Natividad E. and Pedro H. Serrano. She was the eldest of 3 siblings (Josephine and Kline Carlos.) Myrna completed her high school studies at the College of Holy Spirit in 1970. Then she pursued a degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of the East and graduated on 1974. She became a school teacher. Then she decided to continue her studies and earned a degree in Doctor of Dentistry Surgery from the same university in 1986.
On January 6, 1979, Myrna married her true love, Narciso B Hilo Jr. They had 2 children – Pamela (married to Lester Martinez) and Narciso III (married to Ces-Marie Benitez). She also had 5 grandchildren: Danielle, Lester Jr.& Liam Martinez and grandsons Grayson, and Camden Hilo.
Myrna and her family migrated to Illinois, USA in 1986 and relocated to Santa Clara, California where she started her own family dental practice in 1994.
In addition, she was admitted at the OCDS Secular Third Order of Discalced Carmelites from May 2014- April 2017, had Temporary Promise on July 22, 2007, Definitive Promise on May 16, 2010 and her Vow on May 6, 2012. Myrna’s devotion to her faith to God and the Carmelites led her to becoming president in May of 2017.
Myrna loved traveling and spending quality time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Just like her late mother Natividad, she enjoyed gardening and was equally humble, caring, loving, generous, and patient.
Aside from her immediate loved ones listed, Myrna will also be truly missed by her sister Josephine Ramos and brother-in-law Mario Ramos (Kristine, Mark, Peter, John) and brother Kline Serrano and sister-in-law Cynthia (Krista, and Kristel) and all Hilo brother-in-laws (their wives and kids), relatives and friends.
