Pat was born in Watsonville, California to Patrick and Helen Mark on July 26, 1936. Early in his childhood, he moved to San Jose and settled on 10th Street where he met his future bride, Katherine Cademartori. He attended San Jose High School, and played tight end for the Bulldogs. After high school, Pat enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, fulfilling his childhood dream. He was deployed to Japan and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1959 at the rank of Lance Corporal. Many of his fond memories were his days as Military Police. He was extremely proud that he served his country. His motto was “Once a Marine, Always a Marine”, and had countless stories of his days in the Marine Corps. He married Katherine on May 17, 1959. Pat worked as an electrician in the early years of marriage, and later became an electrical contractor. He and Katherine founded their family business, Mark Electric in 1974. He was an active member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) for over 40 years, and served as President and Governor for over 2 decades. He was passionate about the electrical contracting community. He traveled extensively for NECA, and was honored to represent his industry with numerous Senators and Congressmen. In 2001, Pat was inducted into the Academy of Electrical Contractors, an achievement he cherished. Pat retired in March 2015.
Early in their marriage, Pat and Katherine purchased beach front property in Aptos. They fulfilled their dream of designing and building a beach house. This house stands as a legacy of his work ethic that will be remembered for years and generations to come.
Pat was very social. He loved being with people and would strike a conversation with everyone he met. He loved life and wanted to make the most of it.
Pat would discuss politics tirelessly. He was a history buff and loved displaying his Civil War memorabilia.
Pat will be remembered by his love for his wife and family. He selflessly gave his time and wisdom to those around him. Pat absolutely adored his two granddaughters and loved getting his hands dirty in their school projects. His kids and grandkids are his greatest achievements. The world has lost a kind soul who will be missed dearly.
Pat is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Mark; children Jeff Mark (Laureen) of Fresno, Debbie Mark (Bill) of San Jose, Dina Duckworth (David) of San Jose; and two granddaughters Chloe and Heather Duckworth.
