Mr. Z,  you were so instrumental in my life. I went back to school a much older student (in my late 20s) and absorbed every word you said. You were my Guru, and what's more, you became a father figure to me.   I regret losing touch with you, but I was ashamed that after 9/11 I changed careers and went into nursing.  I still hear your voice and remember all the lessons you taught us, despite changing careers, these were life lessons! I hope you had the very best of care, and an easy passing. Your presence was a gift and I count myself extremely lucky to have had you in my life as a role model. Until we meet in the etherial here-after, wise one. 

Professor Paul Zimmerman together with professor William  Wifler were my  professors  for Architecture in San Mateo College between 1977 to 1980. 
I was a foreign student who came from Tel Aviv Israel. 
Even though I did complete my architecture degree , this amazing experience of studying with Mr Zimmerman  for almost 3 yrs contributed so much to my future career. 
I remember very well as all students were connected so beautifully with both Mr Zimmerman and Mr Wifler. 
After a great career in Manhattan of 25 years I have moved back to Tel Aviv. 
Architecture brings back all my life wound full memories of those times and how lucky I was to have Professor Paul Zimmerman in my early stage of life.

Paul's shared sweet trumpet sound and stories will be remembered for eternity. Thanks for your sincere friendship and concern for my medical issues. You gave me strength to be a better man. Our loss, but now you get to play trumpet with the other musical greats of the Big Band era, and dance once again with your bride whom you missed dearly. You also get to meet my mom & dad...They too will welcome you with a warm embrace as you did with me. I miss you Paul, "Ziggy" Peace, Hugs & Love rest in peace my dear friend.

I had the privilege of studying architecture under Paul at CSM in the early eighties.  I think back often and fondly of my time at CSM architecture and as of Paul as a teacher.  I still use his infamous NRAV (no redeeming architectural value) critique to this day in my office!

You inspired me in many ways over the years, Uncle, even though our contact was fairly sparse and far between.  From a bed one night in the 60's to trumpet lessons in my 60's, thank you for sharing life with me the few opportunities we had.

When we were children you watched over me.  When I was a teenager you guided me.  Slowly we went our separate ways---two different families, seeing each other only occasionally.  But as our children left home to form their own families and life choices we found time to see each other more.  These last years are so precious to me.  I thank God for the times we spent together and I thank God you were spared pain and suffering.  I prayed for healing and He gave you the best healing of all.  Now you are blowing that horn hitting all those high notes with the angels as you praise God.
Oh, brother, I miss you so.
