Renee Byrnes

Renee Byrnes of Santa Clara, passed away peacefully on December 26th, at the age of 95. Renee (Murdock) was born in New Jersey on January 27, 1928. Her family moved to San Francisco in the early 1940s and she later attended Mission High School. During World War II, Renee met and fell in love with the love of her life William Bernard Byrnes. They were married for 16 wonderful years and were blessed with six amazing children: Barbara Rodda (Richard), Maureen Ortiz (Phillip deceased), William Byrnes (Annette), Yvonne Reeves (deceased), Michael Byrnes (Christine), and Deborah Goesling (Wendell deceased).

Unfortunately, Renee’s husband passed away suddenly at the age of 40 and left her a widow to raise her six young children alone. It was no doubt a struggle, but Renee was a strong and determined woman. Her children gifted her with 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents Dorthy Grimes, Lester Grimes and her siblings Shirley Enriquez, Lester Grimes and Dorothy Brown.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Golden Gate National Cemetery Chapel in San Bruno, CA. Immediately following the service a celebration of life will be held at Renee’s home in Santa Clara.

God Bless our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. You will be missed but never forgotten. We love you more than tongue can tell.

A graveside chapel service for Renee will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Golden Gate National Cemetery, 1300 Sneath Ln, San Bruno, CA 94066.
