in Santa Clara. He was born January 12, 1929, in San Francisco, to Frank and Catherine Coughlin.
He served honorably three years in the U.S. Navy as a jet fighter pilot, instructor, Lieutenant (junior grade). He graduated from The University of Nevada, Reno with degrees in math and engineering. He worked as a mechanical engineer in the aerospace and computer hardware fields. He married Elizabeth Ann Walsh
on October 20, 1958. Together they raised three children.
Bob was a leader in Y-Indian Guides and coached Little League Baseball. He enjoyed spending time
with family and friends camping, fishing, playing bridge, bowling, dancing, and traveling the world.
He is survived by his children, Helen, Jim, and Alan; his granddaughter Claire; step-grandchildren Duncan, Meggie, and Rebecca; and many nephews and nieces.
His funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:30AM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. Burial will follow across the street at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara, CA 95050.
