It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Bjorkstrand announces his passing on Wednesday afternoon December 19, 2012 surrounded by his loving family, after a difficult battle with esophageal cancer. He touched the lives of all who knew him. He served in the United States Army, based out of San Francisco as a military cook from 1951-1953 until he hired on at Pacific Bell. There he worked for 30 years in a number of positions until he took a job at Bendix where he worked for eight years. An avid fisherman, sports enthusiast and moviegoer, retirement suited him. A caring and devoted father, he is survived by his daughters Bernice (Steve), Julie (Robert), and Lori (Greg); grandchildren Renee, Chris, Jaclyn (Chris), Jennifer, Lauren, Nicole and Carolyn; great grandchildren Raymond, Sydney and Lucas. He is preceded in death by his wife Iona Bjorkstrand. He will be forever remembered as the most kind, happy, easy going husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. A Memorial Celebration of Roger's life will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N Winchester Blvd.
