Ronald was called home by our Heavenly Father surrounded by his family on the evening of October 15th, after a courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Bondi, sister, Virginia Barone, and brother, Dennis Bondi, beloved husband to Suzanne Bondi. Deeply devoted father to Gina Ruiz (Donald), Mia Bondi and Joe Bondi (Shelli). Adored Papa to Ryan, Jacob, Joey, Siena, Brooke and Aiden. Loving brother to Joe Bondi, Nancy Ferreira and Richard Bondi, fun loving, spirited Uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in San Jose, Ron spent much of his youth playing "screen ball" with his buddies at Backesto Park. He attended Grant Elementary, Peter Burnett Junior High and San Jose High School where he excelled as the Bulldog's quarterback and captain of the baseball team. In the Summer of 1965, Ron met Sue and it was "love at first sight". They married in July of 1966 and the love affair continued for 47 years. Ron began his career in law enforcement as a Deputy for the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Department. After two years, he accepted a position with the San Jose Police Department protecting and serving the community with respect and integrity. Retiring as a Sergeant in 1997, Ron enjoyed what he loved most, spending time with family, watching his grandchildren grow and rooting for his San Francisco Giants and the 49ers, while talking to his buddy, Moe! We will hold his memory close to our hearts until we meet again. Vigil Service Monday, October 21, at 7pm at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Funeral Service Tuesday, October 22, at 10am at Santa Teresa Catholic Church, 794 Calero Ave., San Jose. Interment Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. Reception to follow at Mariani's Restaurant, 2500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara.

Mrs. Bondi, Mia and Family,

I am a friend of Mia's... Over the many years she has spoken fondly of her beloved Father. Recently I was privileged to have met him. He was a kind, caring and fiercely protective father. I felt as though I had known him for long time after all the loving stories Mia shared with me. It is obvious his presence leaves a huge hole. My prayer for all of you is that you are able to fill that hole with loving memories and laughter and that someday you shall feel whole again..

My deepest sympathy to all who shall miss Mr. Bondi...

Mia... My sweet friend... I hope you know I will always be here for you... Much love and continuous prayers... Marion Singer.

Dear Suzi, I am remembering an evening in 1966, when we were Maidens in Love..and you and Jan and I whispered and giggled late into the night..I will cherish forever your radiant smile and infectious optimism...you were always a delight. I am thinking of you with enduring friendship during this time of pain. May your next life's chapter be as successful and I am praying for your peace.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bondi Family on Ron's passing. Although the job took second place to his family, Ron was a great sergeant and a conscientious leader. He epitomized the best in San Jose police supervisors. His conscientious leadership, empathy and humor led the PAL program in its heyday. We will always fondly remember Ron.

Dear Sue-Words cannot express my heartfelt sadness in learning of Ron's passing. It was an honor to be there with you when you met Ron and fell in love. Then to be in your beautiful wedding, standing beside you as you married the man of your dreams. Then, many years later to have the pleasure of dispatching him on the SJPD radio. (Who would have thought?) I hope and pray your wonderful memories and your beautiful family will bring you comfort. I know Ron is looking over all of you with great love, pride, thankfulness, and of course that great smile of his. My prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time. God bless each and every one.
