Rosario Torres Evans left this world on August 12, 2022 at age 86. Rose, as she was warmly known, was born October 7, 1935 in Brownsville, Texas, and was the eldest of six children. She moved to California early in her adult life and settled in Santa Clara, California where she raised five children.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Elena and Carlos Torres; and her two brothers, Rafael and Juan. She will be greatly missed by her children, Delmar (Valerie), Donald (Robin), Norman (Marge), MaryEllen Adan (Emilio) and Kristina Franco (Christopher); her grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Rose cared deeply for others and was fiercely protective of those who were a part of her community. She had a way of recognizing the distinct needs of those around her, and she made it a point to meet those needs; whether it was a listening ear, a word of advice or a friendly hand to hold. She had a way of making you feel uniquely special in your relationship and conversations.
She was the mother of five, but a “mother figure” to many; always attentive to her children and their activities, but not forgetting those who were overlooked and who loved her as a mother.
She found peace tending her yard and pets, collecting treasures, and connecting with people.
Rose will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sharp wit, and talents. She possessed the quintessential “green thumb" and could nurture anything into full bloom. A storyteller and keeper of memories, Rose could spend hours reminiscing on any subject with plenty of wisdom to share. And as a talented seamstress, she was a weaver of both beauty and dreams who fashioned unforgettable moments for all those privileged to call her family and friend.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. Immediately following the Memorial Service will be a Celebration of Life.
