

Rose Nunes, 101, passed away peacefully in her Santa Clara home on Friday, May 25. Rose was born in Marin in 1911, moving with her parents, Frank and Mary Pereira, and 3 siblings to the Agnew area of Santa Clara as a child. Rose married the late Alfred Nunes in 1936. Together they ran a successful trucking business for many years.
She was a member in the SPRSI, UPPEC, and Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese lodges, and very active in the Our Lady of Peace Altar Society.
Rose was a truly remarkable woman. Her inner strength, wisdom, and humor endeared her to many. Her glowing smile was shared with many friends that spanned generations. She loved company, sharing the many stories of her long and blessed life. Rose was a devoted wife and deeply caring mother. The void she leaves can never be filled.
Rose is survived by her two daughters, Nadine Powers (Jesse) and Marlene Rebello (Bill). She was preceded in death by her two foster daughters, Shirley Silveria and Beverly Scott. Rose is the beloved grandmother of 6 and great- grandmother of 9, and a loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Rosary, Sunday 6/3/12 at 7 PM (visitation 5-9) at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd.
Funeral Mass, Monday 6/4/12 at 10 AM at Our Lady Of Peace Church, 2800 Mission College Blvd. in Santa Clara. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
