Ruben Dario Salcido, of San Jose, California, passed away surrounded by his family on January 21, 2026. He was born on August 31, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, and was a proud veteran of both the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army. He was also a proud member of Iron Workers Local #377 for 55 years (retired), helping to build the Bay Area skyline and beyond. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dolores Abigail Ortega Salcido; his father, Alberto Salcido; his mother, Maria Luisa Argandar; his brothers, Daniel Salcido and Alberto Salcido; and his sister, Ida Salcido.
Ruben was well known for his great sense of humor, sharp intelligence (the original Google), his love of reading, flying, and for being a hardworking, devoted family man. He is survived by his brother, George Salcido; seven daughters Eleanor, Denise, Darlene, Gloria, Gina, Dolores and Linda; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, son and a wonderful father, Tata, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, cousin and friend — someone who escaped death more times than anyone could count.
Kiss Mama for us, Dad, along with all our relatives, until we meet again.
