Joseph (Stanley) Azevedo Jr. passed away peacefully on 9/20/18 at the age of 93. He was born and raised in the Santa Clara County Portuguese farming community. He was the oldest of four children (Stan, Melvin, Harold, Bernadine) and was a happy and rambunctious child who loved to play sports and help on the Orlando family farm. At the age of 17, he was drafted into WWII to serve in the Navy on the USS Conner Destroyer deployed in the South Pacific. After returning from the war, Stan was married 59 years to the love of his life, Mary Madeline Moreira, the only child of apricot farmers in The Valley of Heart’s Delight. Stan and Mary were married at St. Clare’s Parish in Santa Clara in 1949 and then raised a family of three children in San Jose: Rick, Debbie and Ronnie. Stan was blessed with seven grandchildren (Melissa, Paul, Koree, Lynzee, Angelyn, Drew, Holly) and five great grandchildren (David, Monica, Maddie, Frankie, Jacob). Stan was an avid 49er fan and enjoyed making cabinetry, dancing, playing cards, hunting and fishing, and many years spent passing time with buddies at the American Legion. Rest in peace Stanley.
