Suzanne Castaneda

Suzanne Claire (Bagar) Castaneda, aka Sue, Suzie and Suzie-Q, lived the “good life”. She is a San Jose native born October 5, 1940 at San Jose Hospital. Sue had some health issues the past few years that required a lot of energy to deal with daily. She passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 29, 2022, surrounded by her family. She had a beautiful home and family in Willow Glen area of San Jose, CA.

Sue leaves behind her husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Castaneda, of 61 years, daughters Laura Castaneda and Lisa Castaneda Lane, son Robert Castaneda, granddaughter Jenna Lane; sister Barbara Burton (husband Richard), nephew Mark Burton (wife Laura), grandniece Karen, great grandnephew Jaiz and grandnephew Eric Burton, nephew Michael Burton (wife Karen), grandnieces Autumn, Desiree, Pearl, and grandnephew Shane; brother Walt Bagar (wife Donna), niece Erica Murphy (husband Bill), grandnieces Emma, Shea, and Quinn. And many cousins.

Sue attended the following schools in San Jose: College Park Elementary School, Peter Burnett Junior High School and graduated from Lincoln High School Class of 1958.

Sue had a few jobs but first and foremost was that of a mother and grandmother. She made and kept a home for her family. She spent many years as “team mom” for soccer, baseball, and softball sports her children were participating in. In addition to her volunteer work, Sue worked at Lockheed from 1958 – 1963. She was one of the first workers at Lockheed Building 101. She got her 5-year pin and retired. Sue and Bob got married on May 20, 1961. Raising children was her next job for many years. She also worked at Greenlee’s Bakery and Peter’s Bakery combined for a little over 20 years. Sue’s hobbies included gambling, slots and lotto… (everyone has a dream). She also loved being a grandmother and spoiling her granddaughter with gifts and time. Sue was an avid fan of the SF Niners and SF Giants and enjoyed attending football games. She left a mark on this world that many will never forget.

Services for Sue will be held on Jun 21, 2022, at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050 at 7:00 PM for the Rosary (viewing 6:00 to 7:00pm); a mass on Jun 22, 2022, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 2278 Booksin Ave, San Jose, CA 95125 at 10:30 am and burial at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara, CA 95050 following the mass.
