Virginia Louise Quinn (Castro) 49, of Wilsonville, Oregon passed away on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center in Tualatin, Oregon after a lengthy illness with her husband and children at her side. Born in San Jose, California, “Virgie” was the second eldest daughter of George and Alice Castro (Agular) of Sunnyvale.
Virginia was a graduate of Wilcox High School, Santa Clara, and earned accreditation as a Medical & Dental Assistant from Ashworth College, and also earned Montessori Certification for infant and toddlers. She worked at Rainbow Montessori in Sunnyvale, California for 18 years prior to her retirement in 2015.
Virginia retired as Infant Director doing the job she loved - caring for children. Her ability to establish an immediate rapport with even the most challenging kids earned her respect and admiration from parents and colleagues alike. After moving to Oregon in 2015, Virginia volunteered occasionally at a local Christian daycare.
In her spare time, she enjoyed camping with her family along the Oregon coast, arts and crafts, cheering for the San Jose Sharks and Oakland Raiders, and visiting family and friends in the Bay Area. Recently, she enjoyed time with friends made at Fresenius Dialysis in Tualatin, the Podiatry and Cast Room doctors, nurses and technicians at Sunnyside Medial Center in Clackamas, Oregon, who she visited regularly. Above all else, she treasured being Michelle and Mattie’s mom most. Her spirit, exuberance and her infectious laugh will be greatly missed.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband Mike who she married in 2002, and her daughters Michelle and Mattison, both at home. Besides her mom and dad, she is survived by four sisters and spouses: Renee (Anthony Estrada) of Sunnyvale, Yolanda (Randy LeBlanc) of Sparks, Nevada, Georgina (Frank Tavares) of Bozeman, Montana, and Jessica (Joey Masterson) of Gilroy, and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, on Wednesday, June 26 from 2-4pm. Memorial Mass will be on Thursday June 27th at 10am at Saint Lawrence the Martyr, 1971 Saint Lawrence Drive, Santa Clara.
