Mrs. Yen-Fang Cheng was born on May 2, 1924, in Changchun, Jilin, China. As the only daughter to Mr. Wei-Shu Chung, she grew up in a family with great Chinese traditions. She went to medical school and received her MD degree and married to Mr. Yu-Po Cheng in Changchun in 1948. Together they fled to Taiwan in 1949 with the government.
They settled first in Keelung and later moved to Taipei. Mrs. Cheng worked in the hospital and later started her own practice as Ob/Gyn doctor. During her career, she has helped to deliver hundreds of new-born babies. Her first son was born in 1949 and her second son was born in 1951 in Keelung. Around 1959, Mrs. Cheng has developed serious cataract and glaucoma in her eyes and decided to stay home and worked as a full-time housewife. Her third son was born in 1960 in Taipei.
Mrs. Cheng was a traditional Chinese lady with great virtues. She assisted her husband to accomplish his career as a distinguished law professor at National Taiwan University and as the Grand Justice in the central government. She raised and educated three sons with great achievements.
In 1990 Mrs. Cheng and her husband moved to United States of America. She stayed with her first son's family in San Jose, California ever since. Her husband passed away on April 8, 1993, at 76. She passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2020, at the age of 96. She was survived by three sons, three daughters-in-law, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She will be remembered as a dear mother, a dear grandma and a dear great grandma by her offspring.
