She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, who died suddenly on May 26, 2021. Her parents Rubin and Adele Weinstein and her brother Keith also died prior to her passing.
Never able to fully recover from a difficult heart surgery in March 2019, Randi spent the last 3 years of her life bed-bound in an assisted living home.
She graduated from Kenmore West Senior High School in western New York in 1971 and from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1976.
Randi married her husband Ed on January 20, 1979, in Los Angeles, CA. The couple later moved to Santa Monica, CA, where they lived together for 42 years.
Randi began her career as a Reservations Agent for Western Airlines in Los Angeles in 1978. In 1986, Western Airlines became a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Airlines. She continued working there for many years until medical issues forced her to take an early disability retirement. Her co-workers fondly remember her as a beacon of positivity and often spoke of her as being very helpful to them and fun to be around. Prior to her tenure at Western/Delta, she worked for the American Automobile Association.
Randi loved cats. She and Ed always owned at least one cat through their many years together. Randi loved playing games such as Bingo and card games like Gin Rummy. She enjoyed watching movies and TV shows like I Love Lucy; Candid Camera; Love, American Style; and F Troop. She and Ed shared a love for The Three Stooges. And like most of us, loved to surf the internet as well.
Randi will be remembered fondly by her friends and family.
The family celebrated Randi and her husband Ed’s lives with a Memorial Service Mass on November 3, 2023, in Mesa, Arizona.
On Randi’s urn we inscribed:
Randi Califano
April 3, 1953, to July 10, 2023
Kind, Persistent and Devoted
We love you.
