Sheila Hamilton Ellgaard
May 21, 1928 – January 20, 2019
Our little mom. She came here from Brighton, England in the mid ‘50s as a celebrated ice skater to be on The Ed Sullivan Show and to tour with Holiday On Ice. She stayed to raise a family. She loved animals and we grew up with dogs, cats, bunnies, chickens, turtles, and several strays including an injured duck from the park and a baby squirrel who came to live in the house. She went back to school at age 42 to became a registered nurse and later became the director of nursing at Valley Presbyterian Hospital. She married the love of her life, Torben Ellgaard, and they enjoyed 40+ years together. They loved hiking and spent many weekends walking over the Santa Monica mountains from Tarzana to Malibu, and would then take the bus back home. She loved Mendocino and all forms of nature. She loved her home and her garden and the Lakers. And most of all she loved her family and those she considered to be family. She is survived by daughters Tracy Priestley and Tami Pearsall, granddaughter Chelsea Donsker and grandson Alexander Pearsall, and great grandsons Matthew Pearsall and Roark Donsker. She loved us. We love her.
