

It is with great sadness that Lucie M. Contreraz of Santa Paula, 87, passed away on July 16, 2014 with family by her side Lucie was born to Luis P. Moreno and Guadalupe M. Moreno on January 19, 1927 in Guasti, California. Lucie retired from the Ventura County Mental Health office at the age of 75 years in Ventura, California. She was a parishioner of Saint Sebastian Catholic Church.
She enjoyed traveling which included Mexico, Spain, and Hawaii and many road trips throughout California. Her favorite hobbies were working on crossword & jigsaw puzzles as well as crocheting beautiful blankets for her family and special friends which all continue to cherish her talented work. Most importantly she enjoyed spending the holidays, birthdays and special occasions with her family. Lucie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Ralph G. Contreraz and sons Johnny & David Contreraz, her brothers Manuel, Jesse, Trini, Donato, Louie & Frank Moreno and her sister Adeline Ramirez.
She is survived by her son Richard Contreraz, daughters Susan (Alex) De La Rosa and Cathy (Bob) Sanchez. Seven grandchildren Stephani and Reggie Contreraz, Marcus (Jeancy), Michael and Natalie Sanchez, Samuel and Annisa De La Rosa, four great-granddaughters Marisa, Megan & Marly Valverde and Alliyah Contreraz, including numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend special gratitude and thanks to two angels who came into our family to care for Mom, Linda Burghorn and Rosalba Arenas. Amazing was the love and care that they both provided for Mom without fail. Our sincere appreciation also, to Buena Vista Hospice visiting nurses and staff who always expressed genuine concern for her lasting comfort.
Visitation will be held from 5pm – 8pm, Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 East Santa Paula Street, Santa Paula with the rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, Friday, July 25, 2014 at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 235 North Ninth Street, Santa Paula with Father Thomas J. Dome, C.R.I.C. Officiating. Committal & Interment will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
