Patricia Denise Foster passed peacefully from this world and into her Lord's loving embrace on March 8th, 2015 after a long battle with MS. Our beloved Ticia was born May 9th, 1965 in Santa Paula and was a life-long resident. Ticia was preceded in death by her husband Steven Eugene Foster, father Clarence Hines, mother Hilda Reyes Hines, brother Michael Hines, brother-in-law Wayne Foster, grandparents Pablo and Lupe Reyes and several relatives in Oklahoma. Ticia is survived by her son Dakota Eugene Pablo Foster, daughter Danielle Harley Mishell Foster, sister Cynthia Hines, brother Kevin Hines, nieces Elvia (James) Baies and Cassandra (Roger) Leon and nephews Michael Ramos and David Hines.
From her earliest days, Ticia was a bubbly, charismatic, people-loving person. She made friends wherever she went, and she always had a good sense of humor about life, even when the MS started taking its toll. She met the love of her life, her husband Steve, when she was just 7 years old. While they drifted in and out of each other’s lives over the years until they finally married, she would say that even at a young age she always knew he was “the one”. Their union was truly complete when Dakota and then Danielle were born. Ticia loved being a mom, and every chance she got she would share stories of the kids’ latest activities and funny things they would say.
Ticia worked as an Administrative Assistant at Technicolor and then at Kennedy-Jenks. Before both, she was a child-care director at KinderCare. While she loved working and the camaraderie of her co-workers, she was happiest spending time with her family, friends and her church congregation. Ticia was a long-time member of Heritage Valley Church in Santa Paula, and her strong faith was inspiring to all who knew her. “It is what it is!” was always one of her sayings, and her upbeat, positive outlook even in the most difficult situations was beyond admirable.
A proud mama’s girl, Ticia was very close to her mom Hilda, and they enjoyed many days together sitting, talking, going shopping and out to eat, and sharing laughs about the latest goings-on within the family. She loved being an auntie and spending time with her nieces and nephews and later their children. Ticia had many dear friends and it can truly be said that she touched the lives of everyone around her in a positive, beautiful way. She will be dearly, dearly missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17th at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary in Santa Paula (738 East Santa Paula St.) from 8:30-10:30am, followed by a memorial service at Catalyst Church at 11am (241 North Mill St.). Burial will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery, after which a reception will be held back at the Catalyst Church. Ticia has requested that all those who join in this celebration of her life wear bright, beautiful colors (extra-bonus points for purple, Ticia’s favorite color).
