Luisa Bobadilla Tahimic (Lulu) was born in Tanza, Cavite, Philippines, one of ten children of Mary and Eufemio Bobadilla. As a young woman, she was known for her beauty and fashion and attracted her true love, Orlando Tahimic, whom she married in 1951. They moved to San Francisco where their three children — Barbara, Robert, and Richard — were born.
Luisa followed Orlando as he took various positions around the world — to the Canal Zone, Panama; Twentynine Palms, California; and Subic Bay, Philippines — before settling in the San Diego area.
Their long, happy marriage lasted until Orlando’s death in 2011. She and Orlando had a passion for music and dancing and were well known for dancing a mean tango.
Luisa spent her life as a devoted wife and mother to her children. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the casino to play the slots and often spent time trying her luck with scratchers, occasionally coming out with a big win. She also had a lifelong love of reading and delighted in shopping for jewelry. She had a sweet tooth, and especially loved to eat Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Nutter Butters.
Her last year was spent in assisted living in Santa Rosa, California, where she continued to enjoy music, bingo, and dancing — often raising her hands and moving them gently side-to-side to the music.
She passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 96.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando, and is survived by her children, Barbara Hinkle (Jim), Robert Tahimic (Marichelle), and Richard Tahimic (Trish). She was extremely proud of her four grandsons, David (Rachel), Joshua (Makayla), Phillip, and Jake.
Luisa’s children would like to express their deep appreciation and thanks to the people at Ivy Park at Piner and Madrona Hospice for the care and efforts to make Luisa’s last days comfortable.
