Betty Jo Hall Williams, a resident of Satsuma, passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Springhill Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by the family who loved and treasured her deeply.
Betty Jo was born on July 24, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama. She grew up in Prichard, Alabama, where she graduated from Vigor High School. She later earned her LPN degree from Southwest State Technical College. While raising her daughter, Melissa, Betty lived in Chickasaw, Alabama. For the past 24 years, she called Satsuma, Alabama home and loved being part of the community while watching her grandchildren grow up in the local school system.
Betty was a surgical nurse who worked in Outpatient Surgery at Providence Hospital for 35 years before retiring in 2014. She loved her work family and built lifelong friendships with the men and women she worked alongside. She was also deeply respected and loved by the many physicians she had the privilege of assisting throughout her nursing career.
Before her health prevented her from attending regularly, Betty was an active member of First Baptist North Mobile, where she was involved in the singles group. There she met a core group of friends who became like a second family to her. Those years were filled with growing in her faith, traveling on memorable trips, and enjoying countless moments of fun and fellowship with dear friends whom she loved deeply.
Above all else, Betty loved her family. She dearly loved her daughter, Melissa, and wherever Melissa was, Betty was never far behind. She was a devoted and involved mother, and when her grandchildren were born, they quickly became the center of her world. Betty attended as many of their activities and events as possible, and they brought her immeasurable joy.
After retirement, she volunteered at the elementary school attended by her grandchildren and where her daughter taught. She also cherished her sisters, brothers, and extended family. Holidays were spent gathered around amazing home-cooked meals, sharing stories, laughter, and treasured family traditions. Everyone especially looked forward to her Mother’s (Oma) dressing each year, and thankfully, her family has the recipe to continue that beloved tradition for generations to come.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Blake (Corey); her two wonderful grandchildren, Dustin and Shelby; her beloved sister, Nancy Lindamood (Carl); her two brothers, Fred “Sonny” Hall (Pat) and Rex Hall (Jackie); and her brother-in-law, Don Braswell (Linda). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Erika Etheridge (Robert), Cindy Braswell, Heidi Harrington (Eugene), Hillary Chambliss, Traci Barren (Tyrone), Rachel Hall, Justin Hawkins, Chase Lindamood (Lori), and Scott Lindamood; as well as 13 great-nieces and nephews, one great-great-nephew, and one great-great-niece. And some very special friends: Laura (Jerry) Hinson, Shirley (Jack) Presnall, and Lynn Loper Gesegret.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Willis Bonner Hall and Erika Scharfe Hall; her sisters, Linda Hall Braswell and Jackie Elaine Hall; and her nephew, Rex Douglas Hall, Jr.
A Celebration of Life honoring Betty will be held on July 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Celeste Road Baptist Church, 10175 Celeste Road, Saraland, Alabama 36571. A lunch will follow the service.
The family invites everyone to stay, fellowship, share stories, and remember the many joyful moments Betty shared with all who knew and loved her.
