

Dorothy Jean Smith, age 85, of Saraland, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025. Born on November 7, 1939, in Mobile, Alabama, Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family deeply and lived a life of quiet kindness and generosity.
Jean was a long-time resident of Saraland and a dedicated stay-at-home mom who lovingly raised three children and played a special role in the lives of her six grandchildren. She was always there for school pickups, ball games, and home-cooked meals—her kitchen and her heart were always open to her family. Jean loved Jesus and faithfully attended church at Bayou Sara Baptist Church, cherishing her relationship with the Lord.
She is survived by her daughters Darlene (Steve) Southall and Diane (Ralph) Evans; her son Michael (Natalie) Smith; her brother Buddy (Frankie) Jordan; grandchildren Heath Jernigan, Nicole Bailey, Justin Hawkes, Natalie Bailey, Shelby Smith, and Brody Smith; and great-grandchildren Talyn Hawkes, Adaline Jernigan, Journey Jernigan, and Caleb Jernigan.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bobby Smith; her mother, Dorothy Jordan; and her father, Fred Jordan.
Jean spent her final days under the compassionate care of Springhill Home Health & Hospice and the loving staff at Crowne of Citronelle Long-Term Care Facility, for whom the family is deeply grateful.
A graveside service will be held on September 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Jean will be remembered for her quiet strength, her unwavering love for her family, and the countless ways she blessed those around her.
