Gordon Jackson Davis

Gordon “Clod” Jackson Davis, a longtime resident of Saraland, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was 89 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Ollie Mae Davis; his sister, Darrace Davis; and his granddaughter, Jaime Sheffield. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Judy Reed Davis; his children, Melanie (Kenny) Sheffield, Marlin (Susan) Davis, and Melissa (Joey) Williams; his grandchildren, Brittany (Joe) Mullen, Ashley (TW) Barnes, Brandon Williams, Brandi (Daniel) Whelan, Lauren (David) Jones, and Ryan Sheffield; and his great-grandchildren, Madison Barnes, Jackson Barnes, Laurali Mullen, Braxton Green, Liam Whelan, Fin Whelan, Josie Mullen, Myleigh Barnes, Nelson Whelan, and Collin Jones.

Gordon was born in Tuscaloosa County on June 12, 1937, to the late Aaron and Ollie Mae Davis and was raised alongside his sister, the late Darrace Davis. He later relocated to Saraland, Alabama, where he met the love of his life, Judy Reed Davis. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage, creating a life centered on faith, hard work, and family. They raised three children, Melanie Sheffield, Marlin Davis, and Melissa Williams, and took great pride in watching their family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gordon was a family man who dedicated his life to being a provider. He was the longtime owner of J&M Exterminators, a business he faithfully operated beginning in 1969. An avid hunter who frequently traveled to Jackson, Alabama, Gordon always looked forward to stopping at Ed’s Drive-In, where his favorite meal was the steak sandwich. He was a true outdoorsman with a love for hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. When he wasn’t outdoors, he could often be found watching Channel 199, the Outdoor Channel. He will be remembered not only for his love of the outdoors, but also for his unwavering commitment to his family.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM and conclude at 1:30 PM at Forest Lawn. The graveside service for Gordon “Clod” Jackson Davis will be held at Creola Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest on July 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, dear friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
