

Howard Leroy Crocker, age ninety-four and a resident of Turnerville, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.He is survived by his devoted daughters Sheila (Will) Janca, Patsy (John Paul) Williams, and Karen (Vince) Jackson; Grandchildren Chris (Tiffany) Brannon, Celeste (Chris) Turner, Otis (Jenna) Jackson, Devon (Katey) Dinges. Leah Jackson; Great Grandchildren Kali Turner, Addyson Turner, Daniel Dinges, Kimber Brannon and Lily Dinges; his later love and dear friend Ann Reed, and a host of extended family and friends.He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years Mavis Crocker; his parents Bosman & Rethie Crocker; his twelve siblings Oneida, Nerene, Myrna, Mauline, Reba, Mercy, Uriah, Junis, Waylon, Calaway, Caroll, and Huland.Howard was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi the seventh of thirteen children. He worked at Courtaulds Rayon Plant for thirty-nine years. He was a former deacon at Saraland First Assembly where he was a lifelong member and truly loved going to Church every Sunday.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, riding his lawnmower, watching Alabama football and he had to watch his favorite television shows every day which were Jeopardy, The Price is Right, and Wheel of Fortune which allowed him the opportunity to spend time with Vanna White.Most importantly and above all, Howard was a true man of God and a wonderful example to his family and all those around him. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a hard worker, full of life and a ball of energy. Although he had a tremendous stubborn streak, he was always kind and meek, cheerful, smiling, and only saw the good in others. He will be truly missed but we rest assured knowing he is in Heaven with his Savior.Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Saraland First Assembly. The family will receive visitors at 1:00PM. Service begins at 2:00PM.Pallbearers will be Gary Baxter, Wayne Napper, Devon Dinges, Keith Bush, Leah Jackson, Vince Jackson.Honorary pallbearers Chris Brannon, John Paul Williams, Will Janca, and Jerry Hopkins.
