Joy Aleta Prescott

She was a lifelong resident of Mobile Alabama and Satsuma Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents Woodrow Wilson Scrivener and Dorothy Keith Scrivener, her husband of 34 years Henry A Prescott Sr, brother Woody Scrivener, sisters Judy Scrivener Boesen, Lynn Scrivener Simpson, and Son William “Bill” Prescott.

Joy is survived by her sister Jamie Davis, four adult children: Henry “Pete” A Prescott, Jr, (Kennie Ann), Stephanie Prescott Carson (Don), Ashley Prescott Morgan (DeRan), Christina Lamacchia Prescott; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Prescott Meadows (Doug), Stuart Thomas Prescott, Savannah Alexis Prescott, Jesse Alexander Morgan, Brandon Rhymer (Meg and family), Nathan Rhymer, and Cameron Rhymer; two great grandchildren: Colt Henry Meadows, Cooper Richard Meadows, nieces/nephews and many friends and loved ones.

Joy was a member of Fulton Heights United Methodist Church for most of her life and for the past several years, South Brookley United Methodist Church. She was a special needs student aid and library aid for the Mobile County Public School System, and retired from Craighead Elementary School. She attended Murphy High School. Joy was very active as a Room Mother and President of the schools PTA at Morningside Elementary, while her 4 children attended there.

Services will be held Saturday August 22nd at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 9700 Celeste Rd, Saraland ,Al 36571. Visitation will be at 11:00 and service at 12:00 noon.

Interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery will follow with a private family graveside service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the ministries of Dauphin Island Parkway United Methodist Church.

The Prescott family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of Joy’s friends and neighbors at The Arbors of Satsuma. The friendships, kindness, laughter, and companionship they shared with Joy brought so much happiness to her final years. She treasured the friendships she made there, and her family will always be grateful for the love and joy they brought into her life.

Her Family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to staff and Nurses at USA Health Providence Hospital for the wonderful care that was given to our mother during her time of need.

Joy’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
