

Mary Virginia “Beck” Brown Walker, age 84, of Saraland, Alabama, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 15, 2021. She was born to Lula Mae Cunningham Wilson and Lesley Franklin Brown on September 14, 1936 in Millry, Alabama. Her biological father passed away before she was born, but she was raised by John Q. Wilson and he was much a Daddy to her.
She attended Vigor High School, but left her sophomore year to marry William Fairis Walker. She worked at International Paper Bag Pack for a short period of time, but left to raise her daughter and become a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and working in the garden. She also enjoyed and participated in school functions as her daughter grew up. Mrs. Walker was also a longtime member of Saraland United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Mae Cunningham Wilson; her father Lesley Franklin Brown; her step-father John Q. Wilson; her brother Billy Ray Wilson; and her loving husband of 60 years, Fairis Walker.
Mrs. Walker is survived by a daughter, Debra Walker Wright (Wesley), and three wonderful grandchildren: Douglas Allen Wright (Melissa), Jennifer Lyn Wright, and Christopher Warren Wright; as well as brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland. The family will be accepting friends at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 9700 Celeste Rd. Saraland, AL beginning at 11:00 AM Friday. Rev. Mike Hoppe will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Wright, King Wright, Kenny Reed, David Reed, Josh Wilson, and Thomas Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Walker, Marvin Walker, Johnny Walker, and Jackie Walker.
