He retired after 40+ years as a heavy equipment operator, something he took great pride in. No job was too big when he was in the driver's seat. He mentored many young men through the years and passed down his skills of the trade. He also enjoyed a good game of chess, as it resembled life. "You can't undo a move, but you can make the next one better."
His ultimate joy in life though was watching his grandsons grow into the fine young men they are today.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Maxwell and James Buckley
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Cindy Pugh Buckley; his daughter, Nicole (Joey) Matheny; grandsons Dawson James Butts and Joseph Cole Matheny; sisters and sister-in-law, Darlene, Glynis, Melissa, Lee and Sandra; brother, Micheal.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
