Rita Joe Williams, age 86, of Saraland, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026.Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Melvin L. Williams; her son, Michael Wayne Wright; and her daughter, Rhonda Darlene Brown.She is survived by her son, Billy Ivan Wright (Renee). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Amy Hudson (Bo), Shawn Tillman (Jayme), Kevin Tillman (Angela), Michael A. Wright (Tracy), and Sandon Nicholas (Tara), along with many beloved great-grandchildren who brought her great joy. Rita is also survived by her only living brother Sonny Vickers and her special friend, Archie Carr.Rita dearly loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She had a quick wit and a sharp mind, and she was often the funniest person in the room—you couldn’t get anything past her. Her laughter and sense of humor made every gathering brighter.She had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing. Rita was happiest with a fishing pole in her hands and a story to tell. Her fishing adventures and the stories that came with them were legendary among family and friends and will be remembered with smiles for years to come.Rita will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on through the laughter, stories, and love she shared with her family and friends.Services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 9700 Celeste Road, Saraland, Alabama 36571. Family visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with visitation for family and friends at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
