

Robert Jefferson Barnes, a longtime resident of Chickasaw, Alabama, passed away quietly at home on February 23, 2023. He was born in Chance, AL on October 22, 1925. He was a combat veteran of World War II, where he served in the army participating in the European and Pacific theater. After returning from the war, he went to the Chicago Industrial College where he earned his technician certification. He worked in the HVAC industry and retired from Sears and Roebuck in 1985. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to garden, but his favorite thing was to be with his family.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Jessie and Ida Mae Barnes; son Robert Barnes, Jr.; and siblings Jessie Barnes Jr. and Elvin Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Nell Rotch Barnes; his son Clifton Barnes (Reba); daughter-in-law Michele Barnes; grandchildren Jill B. (Les) Bumpers, Matt Barnes, Logan (Anna) Barnes, Shauna B. (Kevin) Pike; great-grandchildren Andrew Bumpers, Will Bumpers, Emma Bumpers, Nolan Barnes, Christopher Berg, Addison Berg, and Benjamin Berg.
Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 11:00.
