

Shirley Jean Payne Andrews Rubenstein, at the age of 74, departed this earthly realm to enter eternal life on May 17, 2023.She is survived by her husband of 7 years, Richard Dale Rubenstein; children Sherlyn (Michael) Stacey of Mobile, Alabama, Steven (Tanya) Andrews of Axis, Alabama; stepchildren Brittany (J.C.) Perry of Wilmer, Alabama, Tammy (Christopher) Dezego, Sherea (Tony) White; grandchildren David (Lindy) Stout Jr., Matthew Stacey, Melanie Stacey, Shelby (Trent) Bolton, Jeremy Stacey, Benjamin J. Andrews; ten great grandchildren; sisters Linda Bermudez, Marsha Apostalo; brother Raymond (Sheila) Payne; special friends Jan Lord, Renee Sharpe, beloved canine companion Lucy, and many extended family members and friends.Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Dennis W. Payne and Verna Grace Payne; and her husband of 41 years William P. Andrews.Born April 19, 1949, she was a resident of Saraland, Alabama and served as a loyal employee of the State of Alabama’s Department of Human Resources for 33 years. Shirley was also a staunch and true member of the Turnerville Ladies Club and the Turnerville Volunteer Fire Department’s ladies auxiliary. She is remembered affectionately as a kind and loving soul, with a multitude of talent. She was extremely gifted in crafting, sewing, cooking and preparing copious feasts to celebrate with family and friends. She could garden, cultivate flowers and make beautiful floral arrangements that were co-creations with the Lord’s divine handywork. She brightened the world and brought joy to all who were blessed to know her.
