Terry Wayne Brooks, resident of Semmes, Alabama was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 15, 2026, at the age of seventy-seven years. He was born January 9, 1949 in Meridian, Mississippi, but was relocated to Chickasaw, Alabama at a young age. In his working years, he was a devoted employee of CSX Railroad, from which he retired after thirty-eight years of service. Most of those years spent as an engineer moving back and forth between Mobile and New Orleans.Terry had such a genuine love for life. He might affectionately be called a rounder, but he slowed in his later years, enjoying sitting outside in the gazebo, smoking a cigar, and watching his pets. Sundays were reserved for trips to Florida to see his youngest daughter and grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents Forest & Margaret Brooks (owners of the Burger Master in Eight Mile, Alabama for over fifty years); the mother of his children Nancy McWilliams; their two infant sons Keith and Kevin.Terry is survived by his loving wife Mae Blakeney Brooks; daughters Shannon (Daniel) Long of Mobile, Kasey French of Navarre, FL; grandsons Brendon and Logan; step son Joey Smith; step daughter Chandy (Ken) McDonald; several grandchildren and great grandchildren from their combined families; his brothers Bruce and Larry Brooks, their families; his best friend and cigar buddy Jimmy Fant of Semmes; his favorite ex son-in-law Billy French of Navarre.Terry made so many friends in his lifetime, he never met a stranger. His humor was sometimes “off color.” He loved his beer ice cold, a good cigar, and never missed an Atlanta Braves baseball game. Above all, he adored his family and loved the Lord. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
