

Thomas Vance Cost, known to family and friends as Vance, was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother. He passed away at the age of 72 in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, 2026. Born August 23, 1953, in Alabaster, Alabama, to Loretta Bishop Cost and Jack Hubbard Cost, Vance lived a life marked by a deep love of family and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a die-hard Alabama football fan, and his gift for music filled his children's childhood with something they will never forget. The greatest love of his life was his wife, Rita Kathy Cost, who preceded him in death on May 19, 2019. He is now reunited with her after seven years apart.
Vance was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Jackie Ray Cost and Murray Herbert Cost.
He is survived by his two sons, Shawn Frederick Cost and Thomas Paul Cost; daughters-in-law Shannon Thompson Cost and Desiree Cost; grandchildren Logan, Emma Claire, Noah, and Jacob Cost; sisters Joretta Cost Bedgood, Joy Lynn Russell, and Gail Dunaway; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m., and a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Reverend Dino Danzey, Pastor of Citronelle Memorial Baptist Church, and dear friend of the family for almost four decades.

In lieu of flowers, Vance requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Alabama in loving memory of his wife, Rita Kathy Cost.
