I never got to meet Vickie in person. I actually just saw her picture today.  We met because we both experienced cancer. When she was diagnosed we began texting and she would ask me questions about what treatment was like, if what she was feeling was normal. We would share things that I think only people who have fought cancer can understand.  One day she said when she was better we'd go out to eat and she couldn't wait to give me a big hug. She always said I helped her so much, but I believe she helped me more. She gave me the opportunity to share about what my experience was like for the first time. Her life was taken too soon from this earth, but I know one day we will finally get to meet. Vickie, I will never forget you and the fight and strength you showed. I miss talking to you so much. But I'm so thankful you are free. Counting on that hug one day ❤️

Q: How did you meet Vickie?
            
            A: I remember walking into her nail shop and she said “hey babe how can I help you”. She had the sweetest demeanor and I instantly fell in love. I always looked forward to my appointments because we would laugh and she would FaceTime the kids to show me how cute they are and how much they’ve grown. Vickie will be missed forever. Thanks for gracing my life. Love you babe rest well.

We were kids when the world felt small enough to fit inside your family’s restaurant, Happy China. The smell of fried rice and sweet sauce followed us everywhere as we ran between tables, laughing like we owned the place. You’d grab my hands, sit me down, and paint my nails like it was something important—like we were becoming something.

Later, at the skating rink, the lights would glow low and colorful, and you’d pull me onto the floor, skating backwards like you were flying. “Come on,” you’d laugh, reaching for my hands. I’d stumble, shy and nervous, while you tried to get me to smile at the boys watching us. You were fearless like that. I stayed quiet, but I followed you anyway.

You were always just a little ahead of me—braver, brighter, louder. And somehow, you made me feel like I could be that way too.

We didn’t know back then how fast time would move, or how far life would carry us. But every time I think of laughter, courage, and those soft, simple days… I think of you.

My dear Vickie❤️, you will be missed so much. 
It was 2015 when I moved back to Florida and started working at a wine store at the Sanford Mall. I was on my lunch break and headed to the food court and saw Sushi Heaven. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with their food and to build a friendship with Vickie. Over the two sides of the counter we would share stories, me about my crazy adventures in my 20s and she would always listen, and I would always be in awe of her stories with her beautiful family. I always admired her and thought she was the best mom and wife. I still remember when they told me they were expecting baby #2 and how over the moon and happy I was for them! After a while, I stopped working at the mall, but I’d still stop by to get sushi and chit chat. When she opened Blossom Nails I remember feeling so proud of everything she and her family worked so hard to build! Life got busy and although we didn’t spend time swapping life stories like we used to, we kept in touch through Instagram messages here and there and I always enjoyed seeing her beautiful pictures with her growing family. 
All this to say, Vickie was such a ray of sunshine. I absolutely adored her personality and she was always so effortlessly funny. Always so beautiful with her hair done and a gorgeous smile on her face. She was always so kind to me from the very beginning. It’s one of the reasons I kept coming back to Sushi Heaven (but the sushi was amazing too, Van, don’t worry!!). I could go on and on about all the beautiful things about this woman. I’ll be forever grateful that our paths crossed and we became friends and I got to experience a friendship like hers. 
So this one really hurts. I love you so much, girl! I am praying for her three beautiful boys. I am praying for Van. I am praying for all her family that loves her. She will be missed so much as she left such a big mark on my heart. 
Rest in paradise, beautiful. I’ll miss you.

Oh sweet Vickie! I’m so sad to hear this! You always comment on my postings and stories and we would have chit chats here and there and now you’re gone to heaven. I’m going to miss you my friend  😢, may you rest in peace 💔

The laughter we shared still lingers, even in the quiet moments. Cancer may have taken you away, but those memories remain
