

Bill was born on March 5, 1944, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Jack and Eula Mae Stagner. Throughout his life, he was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.
After retiring from a 28-year career at Stauffer Cold Creek, as an avid hunter, fisherman and houndsman, Bill found great joy in the outdoors and shared that passion with many who knew him. He devoted countless hours to mentoring young people through coaching multiple Little League sports teams, leaving a lasting impact on many youth. Most importantly, Bill faithfully served as a deacon at Turnerville Baptist Church, where his strong faith and servant's heart were evident to all.
A devoted husband and loving father, Bill will be remembered for his deep love for his family and his steadfast faith in God. Those who knew Bill remember a man of humor and have the dog hunting stories to tell. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maurine Simison Stagner; daughter, Krista Stagner Herring (Gene); son, Curt Stagner; daughter, Karla Stagner Lawrence (JD); grandchildren, Bayleigh Cunningham (Gregory), Sydney Henderson, Kimberlyn Weaver (Chase), Logan Stagner, Race Bryan, Kylie Grace Stagner, Allie Claire Stagner, Emma Kate Lawrence and John Karter Lawrence; great-grandchildren SJ Henderson, Mila Henderson, Everly Stagner, LJ Stagner, Vivianne Cunningham, Lawson Graham and Madden Weaver; brothers, James Ralph Stagner and Joe Stagner; sister, Pauline Little, and other beloved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Stagner and mother, Eula Mae Stagner; sisters, Patsy Calcote, Linda Gaye Whigham, Jacqueline Stewart, Louise Pack; and great-granddaughter, Landry Weaver.
Pallbearers will be Race Bryan, Josh Herring, Chris Herring, Bubba Stagner, Jay Mason, Chase Weaver, Gregory Cunningham, and Jim Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Karter Lawrence, Logan Stagner, Brad Herring, Wilbur Woods, Charles Roy Mitchell, Kenny Davis, Steve Williams, and John Turner.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 7, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will immediately follow.
The family appreciates the prayers, love, and support shown during this difficult time and rejoices in the assurance of Bill's eternal home with the Lord. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Bill's love for children, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
