Reverend Earl Keith Young, 89, of Sarasota, Florida, peacefully entered the Lord's presence on March 6, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, minister, faithful friend, and a man of unwavering faith who touched the lives of many.
Born on September 11, 1935, in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, Pastor Earl lived a life marked by love, kindness, and service. He was known for his joyous spirit, great smile, and wise leadership. He served as Pastor in (Ontario) Cornwall, Verona, Coburg, Leamington, Pembroke, and Woodstock before moving to Sarasota to serve as an Associate Pastor of the Church of Hope for over 22 years. He also served as a church (PAOC) denominational leader as Secretary/Treasurer of Eastern Ontario, District Superintendent of Western Ontario and General Executive for the National Office. Whether through his community service, church involvement, or simply through his daily interactions, he made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Pastor Earl cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to Ethel Mary (nee Barrie) for 53 years and Sandra Jean (nee Simpson) for 8 years, both now deceased. He is survived by his sons Scott (Darla), Peter (Tammy), and Rodney (Marisa); grandchildren Amanda, Holly, Wesley, Christie, Charity, Jesse, Michael, Hannah and six great grandchildren. His greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones, creating memories we treasure forever.
A celebration of Pastor Earl's life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Hope (2300 Lakewood Ranch Blvd). Visitation with the family will be 9:30 -10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the "Church of Hope" (Earl Young Memorial) in his honor.
Pastor Earl was a man of faith, and his life reflected his deep love for Christ.
He lived by the example of Jesus, always pointing others toward God's grace and love. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the hope of eternity and the legacy of love Pastor Earl leaves behind. "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).
