Eloise Ann (Bieger) Brownell, passed away at the age of 98 in Sarasota, FL. Ann was born in Moreland Hills, near Chagrin Falls, Ohio to Anthony M. Bieger and Ruth L. Baker. She was preceded in death by: her parents Anthony and Ruth Bieger, her husband William P. (Bill) Brownell, brothers Clare P. and Allan A. Bieger, niece Lynn P. Baum, and longtime friend Bill Grayell.
She studied dancing and piano at a young age, graduating from Orange High School in 1943. She attended Western Reserve University before moving to Sarasota, FL in 1951. She worked on Lido Beach where she met her husband Bill Brownell, who just returned home from Korea.
Bill and Ann were married in 1953. They produced a magazine for tourists to the area called “SEE” Magazine and expanded into 16 more cities and 30 annuals for chambers of commerce in Florida. Ann was proud to have earned her pilot license in 1962. She trained in a Single Engine Land Aircraft J-3 Cub. She even did a fly over dropping the payroll for the magazine employees.
After 30 years they retired, selling the magazine in 1985. They traveled extensively, enjoyed playing tennis and were founding members of Bath & Racquet Club and members of Bird Key Yacht Club and were married for 47 years at the time of his death.
Ann had lived on Siesta Key for 50 years when she moved to Prestancia in 2006. She will be greatly missed by my nieces, Barbara K. Macdonald, husband Aldon of Flower Mound, TX, Diane E. Fox of Sacramento, CA, nephews Allan A. Bieger, Jr., wife Deborah of Edgewater, FL and Dexter Baum of Sarasota, FL and all their families.
A memorial service for Eloise will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM at Robert Toale and Sons Celebration of Life Center, 7454 S TAMIAMI TRL, SARASOTA, FL 34231. There will be a Celebration of Life reception immediately following the services.
