Eunice Catherine Pelt August 21, 1936-April 1, 2017 Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Eunice Pelt of Nokomis, Florida, previously from southeastern Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Marie Goodell and sister to the late Louie Goodell. Eunice was born in Tilbury, Ontario and moved to Michigan as a young child. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Joseph for 63 blissful years. Eunice enjoyed softball and bowling in her younger years. She was a girl scout leader with a house-full of cookies during girl scout cookie distribution time. She enjoyed doing ceramics and even had her own kiln for many years allowing her children and friends to have fun with ceramics for many years too. She enjoyed playing games and cards with groups of friends and doing jigsaw puzzles during Michigan winter nights. Eunice enjoyed traveling, whether it was a weekend getaway with Joe and friends or an extended trip overseas. One of her favorite places was Hawaii, but she also loved their trips to Europe, Australia and the paddleboat cruise on the Mississippi Queen. When she and Joe first moved to Florida she loved walking the beaches and collecting sharks teeth. She was friendly and outgoing, a real social butterfly. She was a friend and self-appointed welcome wagon to many new residents of Calusa Lakes. Everyone was welcome in Eunice’s house. Many of her kids friends thought of her as a second Mom. Friends were often invited to the huge Pelt Family Christmas Day celebration and Eunice made everyone feel like family, even making sure they all had a gift. Eunice is survived by her husband Joseph Pelt of Nokomis, Florida and her six children. Karen LaBelle (Mike) Escondido, California, Pam McDonald (Mike) Lenox, Michigan, Joe Pelt (Linda) Avoca, Michigan, Paula DeGrant, Marysville, Michigan, Kim Dalrick (Bill) Lenox, Michigan, Roxanne Drabik (Dan) London, England. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A small memorial service for family and close friends was held at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be organized in Michigan this summer and another gathering for family and friends in Florida later in the year. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local Hospice.
