

Frances was born January 15, 1914 in Milan, Michigan to George and Mary (Prybil) Brablec as one of four children. She married October 31, 1937 in Britton, Michigan to Charles J. Micka of Monroe. Frances is survived by four children, Richard (Jeanne) of Monroe, Tom of Sarasota, Florida, Kay of Coral Springs, Florida, and Harry (Vickie) of Ooltewah, Tennessee. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers Carl, George and Frank Brablec. There are 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Frances attended hair dresser school in 1932 in Detroit and began her own beauty shop in Britton, Michigan. The following year she moved her business to Tecumseh, Michigan. After her marriage to Charles, she moved to Monroe and raised her family while Charles operated Micka's Market at 166 Cole Rd. Charles and Frances moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1975. The family history is recorded in a book by Carl Brablec entitled 'Tales from the Headlands' which explores the Czech experience in America. There are three nephews, Barry (Darlene) Brablec of Tecumseh, Douglas (Virginia) Brablec of Asheville, North Carolina and Dennis of Tampa, Florida and one niece, Carol (John) Sayles of Monroe.
