

Frank joined the National Guard at age 17 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 18. He served this great country for over 22 years and attained the rank of MSG. He is a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in ground combat while in Vietnam in 1969. After serving his final assignment at Peden Barracks, Wertheim, Germany, he retired to Sarasota in 1975 and was a JROTC instructor at both Sarasota and Riverview High Schools in the late 70s to mid-80s. After retiring as a teacher, he worked at Tangerine Bay club on Longboat Key and started his own business of monitoring homes for seasonal residents.
He is survived by his son, Frank E. Gangi (Tina Fleming); daughter, Lisa M. Gangi (Geoff Bender); grandson, Cameron; and Brothers Richard and Michael. He is preceded in death by his former wife, Noreen (Sammon) Gangi.
A committal ceremony with Military Honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Operation Second Chance or Operation Patriot Support. Arrangements by Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home.
