Jerry was born on April 26, 1925, in East Rutherford, NJ, to Harold and Anna (Eckhardt) Hubsmith. Jerry succeeded his father as the owner and proprietor of Hub's Tavern, an East Rutherford landmark establishment for over 70 years.
Jerry served as a Private First Class in the United States Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart for battlefield injuries. He was married to Patricia Tobin for 27 years and had two children, Nancy and Michael.
Jerry lived in Rutherford, NJ for 67 years where generations of Hub's Tavern patrons and community members knew Jerry as a "Great Guy and Straight Shooter." Always putting others' needs before his own, he was quick to share a friendly smile and a kind word.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Rozance and husband, Jack; his son Michael Hubsmith and wife, Lori; granddaughters Jacqueline Besse and Brittany Malan; grand-sons Peter and Kevin Hubsmith; two great grandchildren and cousin, Rose Bode.
A memorial service date is still to be determined. If you wish, consider making a contribution in Jerry's honor to the Veterans program at Harvest House in Sarasota.
